In the City of Yellowknife there are a variety of Organizations that offer supports and services for youth, adults, families and seniors. 

Addiction Services

 Salvation Army - Withdrawal Management Services (WMS)

14 day live-in program, where participants are assisted with information about recovery, post detox planning, access to treatment referral agencies and support their choices.

GNWT Mental Wellness and Addictions Recovery 

Mental wellness and addiction recovery can look different for every individual. This is why it is important to have a variety of options that covers a spectrum of supports for healing and connection in various areas of a person’s life.

Yellowknife Day Centre/ Sobering Centre

The Day Centre is a place for individuals who are experiencing homelessness to access services and have a safe place to be. 

The Sobering Centre is a place for individuals who are intoxicated to sleep off their intoxication.

 Tree of Peace

Tree of Peace provides social, health, economic, and educational activities that are respectful of the Indigenous culture and its distinctiveness, and aims to encourage self-reliance and independence.

Counseling

 Dene Wellness Warriors

A one-on-one counseling service for men and women residential school survivors in Yellowknife

Counseling and access to Traditional ceremonies, language, tool making, gatherings, on the land teachings.

Family Violence & Victim Services

 Native Women's Association of NWT - Victim Services

NWA Victim Services Provides assistance and support for victims of crime and/or sudden trauma by providing information, support and assistance.

 Allison McAteer House

This Family Violence Shelter is a secure and anonymous place for women to receive support while they are fleeing violence. Women from across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut can call us so we can assess your situation and safety planning regardless of where you live.

 GNWT Victim Services Information

The Community Justice and Policing Division offers services to victims that can assist you in dealing with the emotional and physical consequences of crime, and the associated justice processes. All victims are encouraged to contact their local victim services worker to learn about the services and help available to you.

Food & Clothing

Yellowknife Women's Society - Women's Centre

The Yellowknife Women's Centre houses a weekly walk-in clinic, and a food hamper program.

 YWCA - Food Box Program 

This program allows individuals to purchase meat at a much lower price than prices at the supermarket and offers a 'hand up' and not a 'hand out'.

 Salvation Army Food Bank

Food hampers consisting of non-perishable, and where possible, perishable food items are available to supplement individuals and families. Hampers are distributed each week on Mondays and Thursdays.

Food Rescue 

Food Rescue Yellowknife is a charitable, non-profit volunteer organization that accepts safe and healthy food and distributes reclaimed food to local social organizations that provide food and meals to families and individuals needing food security.

Yellowknife Food Bank 

Provides bi-monthly distribution of basic grocery staples to individuals and families who have a need.

Saint Vincent DePaul 

Provides home visits, emergency food vouchers, and furniture when available.

Food First Foundation 

Food First is a registered charity whose mission is to support food and nutrition education programs in schools with the goal of encouraging a healthy population of children and youth for future generations.

 YWCA Family Centre

For children up to age 5. With focus on mental and physical wellness for every family, programs are for families and parents in need of space to engage with their children through play and learning.

The Healthy Family Program provides support for families with children, including children with special needs.

 Home Base - Yellowknife Youth Centre

A drop in space for youth aged 12-24, Youth can access internet, social activities, and programming at the space.

Aims to improve qualified students literacy and basic skills.

The Native Women's of Canada provides employment and training support services to Indigenous women across Canada.
