Committees of Council are established to study issues and make recommendations to City Council. They are broken down into two categories: standing committees and ad hoc committees. City Council has also established technical and administrative committees to assist in various matters affecting the community. These committees do not require members of Council to be members of the committees, though they report to Council as necessary.

Board of Revision |
The City of Yellowknife is looking for citizens to sit on its Board of Revision, a body established by statute to hear Yellowknife property assessment appeals, and scheduled to sit on Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, 2025. The City welcomes applications from all interested persons, however, those with a background or understanding of the basic process of property assessment and an understanding of how to conduct a hearing effectively to reach appropriate decisions are particularly encouraged to apply. Community Advisory Board on Homelessness |
The City of Yellowknife is now accepting applications to fill vacancies on the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness for the following sectors:
The purpose of the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness (CAB) is to assist the City in an advisory capacity regarding homelessness issues within the municipal boundaries of the City of Yellowknife. The role of the CAB is to:
i. compliance with the Reaching Home program eligibility and Community Plan; ii. supporting the planning and implementation of Coordinated Access; iii. engagement with Indigenous organizations, key community organizations and individuals to gather pertinent information related to Yellowknife’s homelessness priorities; iv. projects are aligned with the federally approved Community Plan priorities; v. project feasibility, value for money and sustainability are endorsed; and vi. an annual review of the Community Plan. Heritage Committee |
The City of Yellowknife is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on its Heritage Committee – a body created to help conserve, protect and celebrate the heritage of Yellowknife for the benefit of present and future residents. The City welcomes applications from all interested persons, however, those with a strong knowledge of Yellowknife history are particularly encouraged to apply.
