Shop Local - #ShopYK

Shop Local This Holiday Season:

Yellowknife’s Shop Local campaign is back to brighten the holiday season in Yellowknife! Sponsored by the City of Yellowknife, the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, this year local businesses will be offering specials, promotions, and festive events to encourage residents to shop local and support the community.

The Shop Local program gives shoppers a chance to win when they submit their receipts from participating local businesses on the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce website.

Each purchase of $25 or more earns an entry in the weekly draw for a chance to win $250 worth of gift cards from participating businesses. Five weekly prizes will be awarded during the #ShopYK campaign. There will also be a grand prize draw at the end of the campaign on December 13th, where one entry will win a $2,000 gift card, with second place receiving $1,000 and third place $500 in gift cards  that can be used at up to three of the participating merchants.

Participating businesses are listed on the Yellowknife Chamber website www.ykchamber.com/shopyk/ and they will also display the Shop Local logo at their place of business.

How to Participate:

  • Shop Local: Visit your favorite participating local businesses and purchase items for everyday or holiday items. The ShopHop on November 28 is a great way you can Shop Local this season!

  • Log your Entries: Upload a picture of your receipt on www.ykchamber.com/shopyk/ and fill in your information for entry

  • Share Your Experience: Use the hashtag #ShopYK to share your shopping adventures on social media.

By choosing to shop local, you’re investing in our community and helping to ensure a vibrant local economy. Let’s make this holiday season the most memorable one yet for our local businesses!
