2024 Santa Claus Parade
The City of Yellowknife is excited to invite residents to take part in the 2024 Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
We would like to thank all residents who participated in the online Santa Claus Parade survey. The results are in, and this year’s theme is “The Grinch”!
Community organizations, businesses and schools are invited to enter a float, vehicle(s), or a walking group in the parade. Registration can be done online.
Every year, the Roland Gosselin Ho Ho Ho Award (which includes a $500 prize!) is given to the non-profit with the Best Christmas Spirit who participates in the parade. More information on the Roland Gosselin Ho Ho Ho Award can be found on our website.

Visitor Centre Refreshments
Warm up during or after the Santa Claus Parade with some hot chocolate and cookies at the Visitor Centre, located at 5014 50th Street. Big shout to our local Starbucks for donating hot chocolate for everyone to enjoy! Doors will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Public Transit on Parade Day
Please be advised that on Saturday, November 23, all transit service (including YATS) will end for the day at 3:00 p.m. to accommodate the Santa Claus parade.
YKTransit will provide buses for the warming centers during the parade, as indicated on the parade route map below. Once the roads reopen at 7:30 p.m., YKTransit is happy to provide a ride home to residents along Routes 1, 2 and 3 (as indicated on the transit map). Please take note of the locations of the warming centers, which will also act as the first pick up point for each route.
