Climbing Wall is open for Bouldering Only

Activity Hours

Bouldering only:  Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Top Roping/Bouldering: Monday to Friday

5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Top Roping/Bouldering: Weekends

9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


 Climbing Wall will be unavailable:

  • 1st Monday of every month due to route setting.

NOTE: There will be no closure on the first Monday of July and August

Climbing Wall Activity Types

Bouldering

  • Bouldering is permitted on the bouldering wall and on the main climbing wall in the red and orange areas (not grey)
  • Boulders must yield to top rope climbers and cannot climb below other climbers
  • Spotters are recommended for all bouldering activities

Top Rope Climbing 

  • Top rope climbers must successfully complete a top rope belay test prior to use
  • Belayers must remain standing, and attentive to the climber
  • Equipment (figure eight knot, harness straps, locking carabiner, belay device) must be checked prior to climbing every time

Auto Belay Use 

  • Climbers using the auto belays must have completed an auto belay orientation
  • Always clip the double-action carabiner back into the loop on the yellow triangle after removing from the climber’s harness
  • Do not let go of the carabiner when it is not connected to either the harness, or yellow triangle loop
  • Climber’s weight must be a minimum of 28 lbs up to a maximum of 300 lbs

Lead Climbing, Rappelling, Rope Ascending, Rescue Systems, and Anchor Cleaning

  • These advanced activities are only permitted under the direct supervision of a Climbing Gym Instructor. Do not attempt.

Climbing Wall Use Guidelines

Guidelines

These guidelines are for the safety and enjoyment of all patrons and staff.  Please:

  • Check in with the Reception Desk
  • Complete waiver form before accessing the climbing wall
  • Complete a belay test prior to top rope belaying or leading
  • Ensure all personal climbing equipment is commercially manufactured for climbing and in good repair
  • Only use either a belay tube or mechanically assisted belay device (Petzl GriGri)
  • Tie in with a figure eight follow through knot and leave a 10cm tail
  • Store personal items in designated storage areas
  • Wear shirts and clean indoor footwear at all times
  • Use a chalk ball with a chalk bag, or liquid chalk
  • Tie back long hair and remove jewelry before climbing or belaying
  • Enjoy food in the common area outside of the climbing gym
  • Report any injuries, incidents, or near misses to the staff immediately
  • This is a respectful workplace and a shared space.  Abusive language or treatment of others will not be tolerated

Age Guidelines

  • 4-8 years: May top rope climb and boulder with adult supervision. If top roping, the adult supervisor must have successfully completed a belay test. If the climber is over 28 lbs, they may use the auto belay with adult supervision, provided both have completed an auto belay orientation.
  • 9-12 years: May top rope climb, top rope belay, and boulder with adult supervision. Both the youth and supervising adult must have successfully completed the top rope belay test in order for the youth to top rope belay. If the climber meets the weight limits, they may use the auto belay with adult supervision, provided both have completed an auto belay orientation.
  • 13-18 years: May top rope climb, top rope belay, and boulder without adult supervision. In order to top rope belay, the youth must have successfully completed the top rope belay test. If the climber meets the weight limits, they may use the auto belay after completing the auto belay orientation.

Climber’s Weight for Auto-Belay: 28 lbs minimum, 300 lbs maximum
