2024 Assessments for 2025 Taxation

Property Assessment Notices have been mailed to all ratepayers (persons or businesses responsible for paying property taxes). An assessment is a value placed on property (land and buildings) for municipal and school tax purposes.

Dog Impound Fee Increased

The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to remind the public of the increase in the dog impoundment fee, which took effect on January 1, 2025. This fee increase was approved by City Council in December 2024.
Current impoundment fee: $250/day per dog
The dog impoundment fee applies to dog owners whose pet is being held due to being separated from their owner.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is seeking input as it develops its draft 2026-2036 Climate Action Plan. From January 14 to February 10, 2025, residents, businesses and organizations are invited to provide their insights on climate change via PlaceSpeak. Solis Waste Facility Weekend Closure Notice

The City is advising residents and businesses that the Solid Waste Facility (SWF) will be closed on weekends for the month of January as part of ongoing measures to manage the subsurface landfill fire. This decision allows the City to focus resources on addressing the situation safely and efficiently.
