Residents can sort their recyclable household material at any of the blue bin recycling stations located across the city. All commercial contractors and businesses must bring their recycling materials to the Solid Waste Facility for appropriate disposal during the commercial contractor access hours
Where to Recycle Items for Free in Yellowknife
- Blue Bin Stations: Recycle your household cardboard, mixed paper, newspaper, glass, tin cans and hard plastics.
- Beverage Container Program: Get cash back for bringing bottles and cans to the Bottle Shop Recycling Depot.
- Electronics Recycling Program: Over 500 plug-in products are accepted free of charge at the Bottle Shop Recycling Depot. Computers, tablets, TVs, Batteries, Cellphones all go to The Bottle Shop Recycling Depot.
The City strongly encourages all residents to participate in the recycling electronics via The Government of the Northwest Territories Electronics Recycling Program. Currently, an additional Expanded Electronic and Electrical Product Recycling Pilot Project accepts a list of over 500 products that can be brought to The Bottle Shop Recycling Depot during regular business hours.
