How is a New Street Named? |

Renaiming a Street? |
The general policy is that the names of streets and lanes should not be changed. The renaming of a specific street or park should only be considered in exceptional circumstances; when it will improve the City’s administration of essential services; or would be in the public’s best interest. This is meant to be an extremely high standard, as there are considerable negative impacts to residents and businesses if their street is renamed. |
What Happens When Street is Named? |
Upon naming a street, it is the practice of the City to forward a copy of the Street Naming By-law and a street sign to the appropriate family recognized through the street naming procedure. |
