City Reminds Residents to Use Water Regularly to Help Prevent Sewer Freeze-Ups

The City of Yellowknife is reminding residents to use water regularly to help prevent residential sewer service lines from freezing this winter. Frost levels have been observed as deep as 10 feet, which is significantly deeper than in a typical winter. This places some residential sewer service lines closer to the frost layer, increasing the risk of freeze-ups.
