Mattress tipping fee at Solid Waste Facility

On Monday, May 13, 2024, City Council passed a motion to introduce a $25 tipping fee for the disposal of mattresses at the Solid Waste Facility, which will take effect on June 1, 2024.
Mattresses are a difficult waste stream to manage due to their bulky size and metal springs. They are extremely hard to bury. The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that effective Tuesday, May 21 until Monday, September 2, 2024, City Hall will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for its summer hours.
The Yellowknife Public Library (YPL) is closed on Sundays from May until September, but will operate with its regular hours from Monday to Saturday. To see the YPL’s full schedule, please visit our website.

The City of Yellowknife’s Municipal Enforcement Division (MED) invites families with children from kindergarten to grade six to attend the 36th Annual Bike Rodeo and barbecue. This free event will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Multiplex.
