Tourist Accommodation Tax Comes Into Effect On April 1st, 2025

The Tourist Accommodation Tax By-Law No. 5099, passed by the Yellowknife City Council in 2024, comes into effect on April 1st, 2025.  This By-Law requires that a 4% tax be applied to the purchase price of tourist accommodation in the City. The funds collected will be used to enhance and grow the tourism sector in Yellowknife.

Vehicle Fire on Morrison Drive

On Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:37 a.m. the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) received a call for service to a vehicle fire in a detached garage at 48 Morrison Drive.

The Yellowknife Fire Division responded with one fire truck, one water tanker, one ambulance and six firefighters to the incident; and were able to successfully put out the fire.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is undertaking a review of water and sewer rates and has released an Interim Report that provides recommendations for establishing separate water and sewer rates, while ensuring that these rates are tied to the actual cost of providing water and sewer services.
