20th Memorial Tribute to Fallen Firefighters

On March 17, 2025, the Yellowknife Fire Department (YKFD) will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the tragic deaths of Lieutenant Cyril Fyfe and Firefighter Kevin Olson. A memorial ceremony will be held to honor their sacrifice while responding to a structure fire at the Old Airport Road on March 17, 2005. Both Lt. Fyfe and FF Olson lost their lives when the roof of the burning building collapsed. LT. Fyfe, who had served with the YKFD for 18 years, passed away in the hospital a few days later...

Structure Fire at Dusseault Court

In the early morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1:01a.m., the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a call regarding a structure fire at Dusseault Court.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the fire originating in the crawl space at the front of the home. They were able to quickly contain the fire, which had spread into the interior but was confined to the front portion of the residence. There were no injuries reported, and the homeowner was able to evacuate the property safely.
