Reaching Home Funding Available

Near the end of 2023, the City of Yellowknife (the City) secured a four-year extension on their federal Reaching Home funding agreement. From April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2028, the City will continue to receive funds annually to address homelessness and housing needs in Yellowknife.

New Year's Eve Fireworks

The City of Yellowknife invites residents to join us as we ring in 2025 at the annual fireworks display. The show will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. Residents can enjoy the show from the Somba K’e Civic Plaza, as the fireworks will be set off on Frame Lake.
Please be aware of the following safety reminders:
- If viewing the fireworks near Frame Lake, be sure to avoid the area where the fireworks are being set off. This area is outlined in red on the map located on our website....
2024-25 Holiday Lights Competition

The City of Yellowknife (the City) and Naka Power Utilities (Yellowknife) are pleased to announce the return of the annual Holiday Lights Competition. Residents are invited to brighten up our community during this dark time of year by decorating their homes with festive lights.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce that the new YKFlex vehicle fleet officially begins service on Friday, December 6, 2024.
The YKFlex vehicles will replace the previous Yellowknife Accessible Transit System (YATS), and maintain the same specialized transit service YATS offered but with increased comfort and safety.
