Yellowknife Firesmarting Commences

The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that firesmarting work has commenced in the community.
Heavy equipment will be operating in the sand pits to expand firebreaks. Residents are asked to avoid the work area and follow all signage. City staff have removed sprinklers from community parks and will begin installation in the Kam Lake area today.

The City of Yellowknife would like to update residents on proactive actions we are taking in response to Behchokǫ̀/ Yellowknife Fire ZF015, which is currently burning 37km northwest of Yellowknife.

Public notice is hereby given that the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Yellowknife will hold a special meeting of Council at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 in the Council Chamber, City Hall.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider the following Motion:
- That Council approve the expenditure of funds on an emergency basis for wildfire mitigation/risk reduction within the municipal boundary.

This year’s garden competition will take place from Tuesday, August 1, 2023, to Friday, August 11.
