Fire ban lifted

Effective immediately, the mandatory ban on open-air fires that has been in place since Wednesday, July 12, 2023, has been lifted for the City of Yellowknife. Burning is permitted in approved fire pits only. Burning in an unapproved pit will result in a fine. Welcome Home Gathering Cancelled

Due to the air quality currently in Yellowknife, the City of Yellowknife (the City) is cancelling its Welcome Home Gathering planned for today, September 23, 2023. While it's an unfortunate outcome, the safety of everyone is our primary concern.

Fall Amnesty Day 2023

The City of Yellowknife is excited to announce that Amnesty Day at the Solid Waste Facility will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.
During this time, the residential $16.50 tipping fee at the Solid Waste Facility will be waived but other tipping and out of town fees will still apply.
Please note: Commercial vehicles are not included under the Residential Vehicle Charge and therefore will be charged commercial rates during Amnesty Day.
Fall Program Registration

The City of Yellowknife is pleased to announce that registration for 2023 Fall Recreational Programs will open on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.
