Holiday Lights Competition

The City of Yellowknife (the City) and Northland Utilities Yellowknife (NUY) are pleased to announce this season’s Annual Holiday Lights Competition. Residents are invited to brighten up our community during this dark time of year by decorating their homes with festive lights.

New Flooring at the Fieldhouse

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is looking for feedback on what kind of flooring the community would like to see installed on one of the fields at the Fieldhouse. In 2022, Council allocated approximately $300,000 for this project, which is enough to upgrade one field. The City of Yellowknife (the City) is encouraging Yellowknifers to buy local this holiday season. This year, the City is partnering with various holiday markets to offer customers a chance to win their share of $4,000 in prizes. #MadeinYK supports Yellowknife made products, such as art, jewelry, clothes, toys, souvenirs, and food.

2024 Grant Applications are open

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Community Grant Funding Program as well as the Heritage Committee Grant Funding Program. Note that the application deadline for both programs is Monday, January 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

Remembrance Day Road Closures

The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., several streets in the downtown core will be closed for the Annual Remembrance Day Parade. During this time, there will be no parking along the parade route. Please see the map below for the details related to the road closures.

Signage will be placed 24 hours in advance to inform residents that vehicles must be moved before the road closures to avoid being towed.
